We Use Our Skills to Support the Community and each other  - Locally and Global.  The Hearts and Hands group reach out by making items that will help those both Locally and Globally and our craft classes is a way for members and friends to learn new crafts and enjoy fellowship.

Hearts & Hands - (meets at church) on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month (Sept – June) at 1:30 p.m.  Everyone is welcome and various groups are working at the same time on:

  • Quilts – donated fabric is cut into squares, assembled to make a quilt top, and sewn together and then put together to make a quilt. Quilts are sent to Lutheran World Relief and from there sent all over the world.
  • Prayer Shawls and Prayer Squares – shawls are either knitted or crocheted and then given to members and friends facing difficult illness or loss.
  • Plarn Mats – Plarn is made from recycled plastic grocery bags and then knitted or crocheted into sleeping mats for the homeless.
  • Card Making – cards are made and are sent out to members for their milestone birthdays and anniversaries and periodically to our shut-ins

Everyone is welcome and can join in the fun when ever they wish. No prior skills are needed since there are always folks willing to teach new skills but also there is lots of chances to just help in assembling items ready for the more skilled members. Come and have great fellowship and help in anyway you can.

At various times during the year the Craft Circle offers a one time class.
As teachers are available and the interest is generated special classes are held during the year on a non-regular schedule. These have ranged from jewelry making, flower arranging, Christmas decorations, and card making. Watch the announcements for classes as they become scheduled.

If you have a craft skill that you would like to offer as a class that can be accomplished in 3 hours or less drop a note to the office and someone from the Women’s group will reach out. We are always looking for new teachers and new craft class opportunities.

Other Ways We Participate are - by attending gatherings and retreats, our ecumenical Advent Tea, and the monthly book club group.
