I
was ordained on August 23th, in 1987, after receiving my M
Div from Colgate Rochester Divinity School in Rochester, NY, and
completing Post-Graduate courses at Philadelphia and Gettysburg
Lutheran Seminaries. I
have served two congregations as sole pastor:
St. John’s Lutheran Church in upstate New York; and, Hope
Lutheran Church in south Florida.
I retired from Hope in 1999 and then served as a Hospice
Chaplain for several years in Port St Lucie, Florida.
Before my ordination, I served as Protestant Chaplain on the
campus of Corning Community College for 3 years.
During my professional years, I have served on various Teams
for the Synod (including synod Social Ministry Task Force; Conflict
Management & Resolution Team; Bishop’s Advisory Panel).
I have also served as Interim Pastor to four other
congregations over the years.
I have a deep love for the Lord and His church.
Before discerning a call to ordained ministry, I served as
Parish Secretary for 6 ½ years at my home congregation in Corning, NY
(Emanuel Lutheran).
I am single. My
husband and I divorced in 2000. We
remain good friends. I
live in Maryville (TN) when I am not serving elsewhere as Interim.
My daughter lives with me in Tennessee and my son and his
family live a block and a half from us.
My granddaughter and my great-granddaughter live 1½ miles from
us. It is wonderful
to have a permanent home near my family again after many years with
each of us living in different parts of our beautiful country.
It is also a joy and a privilege to be here at Emmaus. I
look forward to our mutual ministry in this place.
Blessings,
Pastor Norma
